Limited Edition Framed La Traviata Cards

These six colourful trading cards charmingly illustrate the libretto of Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata. The cards were originally issued in 1939 by the Liebig Company to advertise their meat based products. They were much loved, seen at the time almost as an illustrated encyclopaedia. Covering a wide range of topics, they eventually became more popular than the products. Of the 1,500 or so sets that were released, more than 40 are related to operas and their composers.

Each of the six illustrations is rich with vibrant detail thanks to the chromo-lithographic printing process.
